How to win friends and influence people with Cake
Have you ever heard of a person who was disappointed when someone gifted them with a cake? No, neither have I.
Nigella Lawson once said her mother’s advice was to bring food gifts around to a host’s house, as giving flowers meant they had to go looking for a vase…and I agree. Call it the need of winning people over, or being a undiagnosed feeder, but seeing the pleasure people get when they consume my cakes is when I know I can rest easy; my job here is done.
Cakes for Parties
Cake will make you popular, if not more popular, with people of all age groups. If you bring a homemade cake to a gathering of people or a party, whatever age group, you will instantly make friends. This is a fact! Also, to further win over people when responding to questions, one should answer in a modest tone that, “No one makes a cake to eat by themselves”.
Even Marie Antoinette tried to calm things down in France by suggesting they all have some cake, however this one time cake didn’t work.
At a recent baking demonstration, I just realised just how much you can win friends and influence followers and people with a slice of cake. After sharing some of my baking tips and my Bakewells with these ladies, it was clear to see just how much you could. When the demonstration was over, the ladies were overjoyed with all that they had learned, seen and all the sugar I had injected into their system. One lady gave me a hug and thanked me for giving her nostalgia and it was there I realised I had made a new friend.
